Tropical-Vedic astrology unites two traditions often thought incompatible: tropical astrology, based on the movement of the Sun through the equinoxes and solstices, and Vedic astrology, which reads the movement of the Moon through the fixed stars of the sky, the nakshatras. They do not oppose each other: the Sun and the Moon travel the same celestial space.
Two traditions, one clarity
Tropical astrology is based on the movement of the Sun through the equinoxes and solstices. Vedic astrology, often called sidereal, takes as its reference the movement of the Moon through the fixed stars of celestial space, the nakshatras. It is heir to a thousand-year-old wisdom, that of the founding texts of the Hindu tradition such as the Surya Siddhanta, the Srimad Bhagavatam and the Taittiriya Brahmana Upanishad.
These two systems do not oppose each other. The Sun and the Moon travel the same celestial space, and it is precisely their interaction that gives birth to the zodiac. The Vedic texts themselves seem to describe a system whose starting point is the equinox: the cross formed between equinoxes and solstices is found at the very origin of the swastika, a sign of divine power in the Hindu tradition.
I draw on the depth and richness of Vedic knowledge, its reading of karma, dharma, the nakshatras, the Rahu-Ketu axis, and I apply it to the precision of the tropical calendar, the one refined over the centuries through the evolution of celestial observation.
