The book
Lire le ciel
Du zodiaque tropical aux nakshatras
Understand the signs, the sidereal frame and the lunar mansions.

Why this book
One sky, two ways to count it
Two traditions measure the sky differently. Western astrology starts from the seasons; Indian astrology starts from the fixed stars. Over time the two frames drifted apart. This book explains that drift and shows how, in Elvira's practice, the two frames can be used together without being confused.
It answers the questions you actually ask: how a chart is built, where the nakshatras come from, what the cycles and dashas say, and where calculation stops and reading begins.
A calm, well-documented approach, without needless jargon: enough to understand your own chart instead of being ruled by it.
What the book covers
Six parts, from frame to meaning
The book moves step by step, from the groundwork to the finer detail.
One sky, two ways to count it
The zodiac of the seasons, the zodiac of the stars, precession and the ayanamsha: where the difference comes from, and why it is not a mistake.
Reading a chart: the building blocks
Planets, signs, houses, the Ascendant, aspects, the Rahu-Ketu axis and the navamsha: the elements that make up a chart.
The nakshatras
The twenty-seven lunar mansions, their lords, their padas, and the Moon in its mansion.
Time: cycles and dashas
Slow transits, Vimshottari dashas and Sade Sati: how the sky unfolds across a life.
The method: from calculation to reading
How the layers combine, and where calculation stops.
What a reading involves
Karma, dharma and freedom: reading a sky without boxing a person in.
The method
Two frames, a richer reading
Neither zodiac is true or false: each is a convention, a choice of starting point. The book keeps each thing in its place.
It is not about laying the Vedic over the tropical, nor about picking a side, but about keeping each frame in its place: the tropical for the signs, the houses and the aspects; the sidereal for the nakshatras, the dashas and the navamsha.
- Tropical frame: the signs, the degrees, the houses, the Ascendant, the Midheaven and the aspects.
- Sidereal frame (Lahiri): the nakshatras, the padas, their lords, the dashas and the navamsha.
Three gestures
Calculate, interpret, read with someone
The book clearly separates three levels.
Calculate
Computing positions is deterministic: the same data always gives the same sky, according to the stated frames.
Interpret
Interpretation gives meaning to the data, along documented traditions. It lives in the free chart, in your personalized book and in this book.
Read with Elvira
A human reading adds dialogue, context and a synthesis of what you are going through now, and answers your specific question.
Her contribution
Elvira's practice, documented
Elvira writes the foreword and brings doctrinal contributions. The book describes and puts her practice into words: how she draws the houses, reads a lunar mansion, and holds the two frames together. She is a contributor, not a co-author.
